For parents and caregivers
Baby mode
A softer, simpler player. In-app volume is limited to 30% of normal, a timer is always on, and you stay in control. It is not calibrated and can't guarantee a safe sound level — that depends on your device and where you put it.

Guidance
Low
Start at the lowest level you can just hear, and turn your device volume down before pressing play.
Far
Place the speaker across the room. Sound level drops quickly with distance.
Limited
Use it to settle, not all night. The timer is always on here and fades out on its own.
Device limit
Where your phone or speaker offers a volume limit (some Android phones have a media volume limiter; many smart speakers have a max-volume setting), use it.

Why so careful?
A 2014 study measured infant sleep machines and found some could exceed recommended noise limits for infants at their maximum settings and close range. The American Academy of Pediatrics advises keeping such devices away from the cot, at low volume, and not running all night. Read the sources.
