Fan noise

Gentle Fan is a soft, fan-like whoosh over a small low-noise floor. It evokes moving air, without running a physical fan.

Your current timer applies. Free sessions last up to 60 minutes and fade gently; you can start again whenever you like. Start at a low device volume.

What you'll hear

The airflow layer uses low-passed deep noise and a gently moving filter. That movement distinguishes it from steady pure brown noise. It is not a recording of a particular fan, motor or room, and it cannot cool or ventilate your space.

When to try it

Try it if familiar ventilation sounds feel less noticeable than a bright hiss. Small speakers may reproduce the low end differently. Keep it comfortable rather than trying to match a fan's loudness, and check that important room sounds remain audible.

Evidence for continuous noise improving sleep is limited and mixed. Read our sources and limitations. These adult listening pages are not infant safety guidance; parents should start with Baby mode.

Make it your own

Airflow is the main layer in this starting mix. Lower it for less movement, increase Noise for a steadier brown-noise floor, or set Airflow to zero to remove the fan-like texture. For a ready-made mix without airflow, use the Brown noise page instead.

Is fan noise just brown noise?

This mix is not pure brown noise: it includes a moving airflow layer. The separate Brown noise player starts with only brown noise, making it easier to compare steady rumble with a fan-like whoosh.
